SDLP Foyle MLA Sinéad McLaughlin has welcomed the rollout of an online contraception delivery service across the North.
It follows a successful pilot last year, with the service being funded by Health and Social Care and delivered by the online sexual health service SH:24.
Said the Foyle MLA: “I welcome the rolling out of the online contraception delivery service across the North following a successful pilot last year.
“This service will make it easy for women to order contraception and have it delivered directly to their homes at their convenience.
“Not everyone is able to take time away from work or their busy schedules to attend in-person clinics and obtain contraception and we know the pressure our health service is under that is making it very difficult for people to get appointments in the first place.
“Those in need of these products often cannot wait, and this service ensures they can get them delivered to their home in a timely manner.
“Any initiative that makes it easier for women to take responsibility for their own healthcare is to be welcomed.
“As we seek to reform and modernise our health service we need to look at further initiatives like this that make it easier for people to access healthcare in a flexible and convenient way.”
