The FRS Recruitment GAA World Games has arrived in Derry.
It takes places from today, Monday, July 24 to Thursday 27th July 2023 in Owenbeg, Center of Excellence with the Cup Finals in Celtic Park, Derry city on Friday, July 28.
Ninety-three teams from all over the world will be coming.
There will be a parade through Derry City this evening down Shipquay street, at 6.30pm – finishing at the Guildhall with the opening ceremony at 7 pm.
The event is FREE for everyone across the entire week.
There will be stalls, food vendors, family fun zone and seven pitches filled with Gaelic games!
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Patricia Logue, tweeted: “I’m really excited for @Doiregaa’s hosting of the 2023 GAA World Games this week
“The event kicks off with a parade by the participating teams from Bishops Gate down to Guildhall Square at 6.30pm for a formal opening ceremony
“Come along and welcome the teams to our city! ⚪️”
She added: “Lovely to have the GAA World Games team from Canada in the parlour this afternoon ahead of tonight’s opening ceremony 🌏 ☘️
“I hope you enjoy your week in Derry and make memories to last a lifetime 🔴⚪️.”
