Conor McGinley, also known as ‘DJ Curly’, was killed in Kerrykeel on Saturday at about 3.30 am when the car he was driving hit a pole on the roadside.
His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital.
A passenger who was travelling in the same vehicle is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and road conditions were said to have poor at the time as a result of heavy rainfall.
The R246 road in Ranny is currently closed to allow forensic collision investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene.
Diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.
His family have since released details of his funeral arrangements.
Late of 2 Quay Road, Drumbern, Milford, his remains will leave from the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Carnamuggagh, Letterkenny, on Tuesday, August 8, at 4pm going to his home.
Funeral Mass on Thursday, at 12 noon in St Peter’s Church, Milford, with burial afterwards in Milford Cemetery.

House strictly private from 10pm until 10am, and on the morning of the funeral.
Connor is survived by his loving parents, Ennis and Noelle, brother Dennis, cousin Caitlin, grandfather Patrick McGinley, uncles Michael McGinley and Joe McElhinney, aunts Nellie McDermott, Caroline McElhinney, Kathy McElhinney, Siobhan McElhinney, Melissa McElhinney and Sinead McElhinney, cousins, extended family and friends.
