Tributes have been paid to a young Derry mother who lost her life in a tragic accident this week.
Mairead Doherty, aged in her 30s, died following a single-vehicle collision on the Culmore Road in the early hours of Sunday morning. Three other people were taken to hospital for treatment.
Ms Doherty’s funeral will take place at St Columba’s Church, Long Tower, tomorrow morning (Wednesday 16th August). Funeral from her mother’s home, 10 Durrow Park, on Wednesday at 10.20am for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery.
Mairead is survived by her son Cillian and partner Ciaran Lynch. She is the beloved daughter of Ann Doherty and Conor and Pamela Cassidy, the loving sister of Ryan, Conor and Edwin and the aunt of Lennon.
Ciaran’s employers, Maiden City Butchers, have set up a GoFundMe to support the family with funeral costs at this difficult time.
They said: “In these sad times, we would like to try and raise a few pound for the cost of Mairead Doherty’s funeral on behalf of our colleague Ciaran Lynch her son Cillian and her family. We will also be accepting donations in Maiden City Butchers for anyone who doesn’t use online. We hope Ciaran has a speedy recovery. RIP Mairead Doherty.”
