From this Thursday the picturesque village of Dunfanaghy and surrounds will be grooving to the best live music as the annual Jazz and Blues festival makes its welcome return.
Events get underway on Thursday. Sept. 7th, from 5pm, Friday starts at 3pm, Saturday and Sunday there is music from 2pm and Monday sees events kick off at 4pm – wall to wall music and over 60 FREE gigs. Keep scrolling for the full programme!
There’s something for everyone and the anticipation from bands and fans has been growing in recent weeks as the countdown begins.
Plus, the sun gods have been showing favourable signs of early blues skies as the festival returns after a three year break.
Among those playing this year are The Mafia Cats, Grainne Duffy, Rust Jacks, Johnny Gallagher and the Boxty Band, Indigo Joe, Mr Castle, Mirenda Rosenberg, Portobello, Ol’Times, The String Ninjas, The Daylight Wobblies, Mark Black, Gypsy Jazz Trio, Ronnie Greer and many, many more.
Renowned guitar player and singer Porter McClister is even travelling all the way from Nashville for the weekend – so fans will see the best of local, national and international talent over the four day event.
The organising committee said they are looking forward to seeing everyone once again and wish them an enjoyable festival.
“From Thursday to Monday there are some of the best local, national and international bands and artists playing in Dunfanaghy, Portnablagh and Creeslough. It’s wall-to-wall music for five days and it’s great to be back,” a spokesperson stated.
They added that they really appreciate the support of the sponsors including Failte Ireland, Guinness, Heineken and Tease Construction, and local community to make the festival what it is.
There is one ticketed gig, Johnny Gallagher and the Boxty Band, on Saturday night and tickets can be purchased here: http://tinyurl.com/3j5huv3a
