Opposing fans briefly clashed in a car park outside the Brandywell stadium following the game on Friday night.
The match finished 1-1, with Derry failing to close the gap on the league leaders.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a disturbance following a football match in the Lone Moor Road area of Derry on Friday.
“Officers intervened and quickly de-escalated a minor disturbance between a number of opposing football fans in a car park outside the stadium following the match.
“There are no reports of injury at this time or damage to property.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 527 15/09/23.”
The game drew the biggest crowd at the Brandywell this season.
City remain four points behind the champions in the Airtricity Premier League with six games left to play.
