The New IRA statement posted on a wall in Derry claiming responsibility for murder bid on DCI John Caldwell
Police say a file will now be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The investigation continues.”
The man was arrested over the New IRA’s claim of responsibility for the attempted murder of DCI Caldwell in Omagh earlier this year.
The claim of responsibility was pasted onto a wall in Derry just days after the murder bid.
