The incident happened shortly after 9.20 pm on Bundoran’s Atlantic Way.
Ronan Wilson, who was from Kildress, Co Tyrone died at the scene. His remains were taken Sligo University Hospital where a post mortem will place later today.
Tributes have been paid to Ronan who played GAA for Kildress Wolfe Tones.
Kildress Wolfe Tones chairman Dominic McGurk said the community was “numb” and in “complete shock” in the wake the boy’s death.
“We are a tight-knit community here, we’ve dealt with tragedies in the past and unfortunately we’re doing to have to deal with another one but we will come together and we will support the family,” he said.
Mr McGurk said that he hoped the support from the club would help Ronan’s family “in their days and months ahead”.
A man in his 20s was arrested on Sunday afternoon and is being questioned by An Garda Siochana in Donegal.
Gardaí said said they had seized a vehicle, which will examined by forensic investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and want anyone who has dashcam footage from Atlantic Way or Sea Road from the time of the crash to make it available to them.
