Ten people were killed almost a year ago when an explosion took place at the Applegreen Service Station on the afternoon of Friday, October 7, 2022.
Those who sadly lost their lives on the day were: Leona Harper, 14, Robert Garwe, 50, Shauna Flanagan Garwe, five, Jessica Gallagher, 24, and James O’Flaherty, 48, Martina Martin, 49, Hugh Kelly, 59, Catherine O’Donnell, 39, her 13-year-old son James Monaghan, and Martin McGill, 49.
Now, a year on from the tragedy the local community will come together at the site of the tragedy to hold a first year anniversary memorial service and commemoration next Saturday, October 7, at 3pm.
A Vigil Mass will be offered later that evening at 7.30pm to commemorate those who died in the tragedy, for those who were injured and in thanksgiving for all who responded to the tragedy.
Gardai, Donegal County Council and parking stewards will assist on the day.
The N56 Road through Creeslough village will be closed next Saturday from 2.30 pm to 4pm.
Diversions will be in place.
