Changing rooms at ‘Stute’s Riverside Stadium destroyed in blaze in 2018

Firefighters were despatched to the scene of a blaze at the former home of Institute FC in Co Derry.

It’s understood the fire broke out at the Riverside Stadium on the Glenshane Road in Drumahoe shortly after 9pm.

The stadium was destroyed in severe flooding during August 2017, with Institute FC unable to return to the ground after an infestation of Japanese Knotweed.

A fire also broke out at the club’s changing rooms in 2018.

The team, which plays in the NIFL Championship, now hosts home fixtures at Derry City FC’s Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
