SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan has welcomed action to address accessibility concerns at Oak Woods car park, Faughan Valley.
It follows complaints from constituents about obstructions along the footways which is causing issues for wheelchair users and pedestrians with prams.
Said the Foyle MLA: “Pleased to get confirmation from DfI Roads that urgent steps are being taken to install collapsible bollards and improve accessibility at Oak Woods.
“We received several complaints, namely from wheelchair users, about large block type structures which had been put in place as a temporary measure but are preventing access to the pathways from Oak Woods continuing onto Brackfield Woods.
“DfI has agreed replace the current temporary measures with permanent bollards and I understand this installation is being treated as urgent.
“It is important that every member of the public has access to these beautiful woodlands right on our doorstep.
“I commend DfI Roads for prompt action to resolve this issue.”
