Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Patricia Logue, has urged the public to get involved in the latest in her series of interactive online discussions to give advice and guidance to households in coping with the cost of living.
The latest webinar takes place on Tuesday, February 13, at 7pm when Mayor Logue meets online with representatives from Advice North West who can offer support on a wide range of issues.
Formerly Citizens Advice North West, they are one of a number of agencies in the Derry Strabane Council area, who provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice on a range of issues that can affect people in their everyday lives.
This can include benefits, health, employment, immigration, family, debt and money, consumer issues, law and courts, tribunal representation and housing.
The webinar event with Advice NW will focus on the new Universal Credit benefit and advice for people dealing with debt.
Members of the public can attend the event live via zoom where they can submit their questions to the panel via a chat box facility.
The online discussion is the third in a series of four webinar events to highlight the support and guidance available locally in managing household budgets.
“Many households across our Council area are experiencing another tough winter of struggling to meet the financial demands placed on them by rising energy and food prices,” said Mayor Logue.
“My webinar with Advice North West will provide information on what to do if you receive a notification that you have been moved to Universal Credit, how to complete a claim and what happens your benefit payments while you’re waiting on your claim to be processed
“There will also be details on how Universal Credit affects other benefits that you might receive and also how it applies to those who are in employment.
“Advice NW offer a service that can help you with the situation and organise manageable repayments.”
The final webinar in the series takes place on Tuesday March 12th when Mayor Logue meets the Consumer Council at 7pm.
