Police in Derry have launched an investigation after a video was circulated on social media a pistol being fired into the air.
The video is captioned “a final salute to our comrade Dennis ‘Sa’ Gallahger”.
It shows two men in balaclavas, one of whom is holding a photograph while the other fires five shots in the air from a pistol.
Denis ‘Sa’ Gallagher, a former Republican prisoner, died on Monday and was laid to rest on Wednesday at Derry’s City Cemetery.
Other videos published on YouTube shows a funeral procession for Mr Gallagher in the City Cemetery, as his coffin is carried by men wearing black berets and jackets emblazoned with ‘Republican ex-POWs & combatants, Doire’.
The video shows a piper leading the funeral procession to a plot at the cemetery, where a tricolour is taken from his coffin and carefully folded and handed off before the coffin is lowered.
The video showing shots being fired, meanwhile, was filmed at night time.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are aware of video footage showing two masked men, one of whom is seen firing a number of shots in the air.
“An investigation is underway.”
