DCI John Caldwell was shot by the New IRA in murder bid in February 2023
They are to be reported to the Public Prosecution Service.
The men, aged 32, 48 and 49, were arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism on Tuesday, March 26.
A number of items were seized for forensic examination, including a car.
Police say the investigation continues.
