Exposed parts of the North of Ireland could be battered by winds of up to 70mph, forecasters have warned, as Storm Kathleen hits today, Saturday, April 4.
A yellow weather warning is currently in place from 8am until 10pm, with stronger gusts now expected than had previously been forecast.
The PSNI has warned that Storm Kathleen’s impact is now being felt throughout the North.
It is urging road users of the high risk of fallen trees and debris on the roads.
The advice from police is to slow down, leave extra time for your journey and exercise caution when out and about.
Storm Kathleen will be the 11th named storm in eight months and only the second time in a UK storm season that the letter K has been reached in the alphabet.
Storm seasons run from the start of September to the end of the following August.
The first time the letter K was reached was in March 2016, with Storm Katie.
