It is understood the PPS is due to announce its decision on whether to charge 15 former British soldiers on Thursday, April 18.
Said the Foyle MP: “Lord Saville was brutally clear about the approach taken by British Army soldiers who lied in their evidence to his inquiry into Bloody Sunday.
“His finding that many ‘knowingly put forward false accounts in order to seek to justify their firing’ confirmed what everyone in Derry already knew but critically, it invalidates the central assurance provided to soldiers that they would not face prosecution if they told the truth.
“This is another difficult moment for the Bloody Sunday families and the wounded. But the people of Derry will continue to stand with them, offering all our support in the days ahead and every day it takes to get justice.”
