The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council has launched an exciting series of empowering and educational events to celebrate this year’s Workers Rights and Social Justice Programme, taking place from Thursday 23rd April until Sunday 12th May.
Launching the programme this week, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Patricia Logue, said: “As a Council, we are delighted to help launch this year’s Workers Rights and Social Justice Programme.
“Derry and the wider region of the North-West know all too well how important the campaign for social justice and fair rights is, as we look back at our history through the Civil Rights movement.
“This year’s programme of events offers us the opportunity to reflect on those pivotal times in our history, look at how far we have come and how far we still have to go as we highlight modern day campaigns.
“I look forward to attending some of the events myself and I would encourage everyone to check out the programme.”
Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) will host a number of events, the programme also includes events organised and managed by Derry Trades Union Council (DTUC).
