The Derry branch of United Against Racism has called on people to support the annual May Day march.
The event which is organised by the Derry Trades Union Council will take place on Saturday, May 4, at 4 pm in Waterloo Square.
Spokesperson Davy McAuley explained why the group thought it was important to be there.
“To defeat racism and the far right we need a united working class.
“The best vehicle to achieve this is the Trade Union movement.
“International Workers’ Day is when we come together to celebrate the working class of all lands.
“Racism divides workers. When workers are divided they are in a position weakness.
“Our strength is unity and ordinary people standing together makes an irresistible force for good.
“United Against Racism will proudly march on the May Day parade. We ask the people of Derry to join us.
“We can deliver a clear message that the people of this town completely reject the far right and their racist agenda.
“The unity of workers across the world on May Day gives us hope that another world is possible.
“A world cleansed of oppression where racism is no more.”
