A man in his 70s has died in Co Derry and two other men have been injured following what police described as a “farm incident”.
The emergency services including the PSNI are at the scene in the Cullyrammer Road area of Garvagh.
Police said the two men injured have been taken to hospital for further treatment. One of the men has reportedly suffered a broken leg.
A PSNI spokesperson added: “The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. Officers will provide assistance to the Health and Safety Executive’s investigation.”
It is understood the men affected in the accident were contractors working at the farm, and that the wall of a silage pit collapsed.
A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said they “received a 999 call at 10:48 on Thursday, 16th May following reports of an incident in the Cullyrammer Road Area, Garvagh.”
“NIAS despatched three Emergency crews, one Ambulance Officer and two Ambulance Doctors to the incident.
“The Air Ambulance with HEMS on board was also tasked to attend,” they added.
“Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Causeway Hospital by Ambulance.
“One patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by Air Ambulance.”
An HSENI spokesperson added: “HSENI is aware of in an incident in the Garvagh area and is in attendance.”
