A man has been arrested after he used a vehicle to ram the Ulster Bank branch premises in Derry city on Monday night at around 11.40 pm.
The incident took place overnight when the motorist repeatedly reversed his red Mercedes saloon car into the front of the premises.
Significant damage was caused to the front of the bank which is situated on Bay Road.
The 47-year-old driver was arrested for criminal damage along with a number of motoring offences including driving with excess alcohol in breath, dangerous driving, criminal damage, and attempted theft.
When inside the police vehicle, the man was verbally abusive to officers, and kicked the headrests of the car.
He was further arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour and attempted criminal damage
The suspect was taken to the PACE custody suite at Strand Road for questioning.
