Bus chiefs have apologised after one of their coaches became stuck in a street in Derry.
They had to call in the services of a crane to remove it from Fountain Hill.
Videos and photos shared on social media show the Translink operated XPress service being lifted by a crane in the Fountain Hill area of Derry this morning at 8.30am.
The removal of the coach meant there was a large traffic jam in the area during rush hour in the city.
The area which links to Spencer Road – a main link route from the Waterside to the Craigavon Bridge and the city side of Derry – is one of the most steepest roads in Northern Ireland.
This morning’s incident is just one several which has occurred in recent years which has saw a large vehicle become stuck leading to a traffic standstill.
A Translink spokesperson apologised for the incident and in a statement said: “The 6.30am 212 Goldliner express coach service from Belfast became stuck at Fountain Hill in Derry at approximately 8.30 this morning.
“Passengers were safely transferred to another bus to complete their journey. The coach has been recovered.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
A PSNI spokesperson also confirmed police were present at the incident and said: “Police were in attendance at Fountain Hill, Derry, to assist with traffic as a crane was used to recover a bus from the area.”
