Drink-driver to face Derry court

A 36-year- old man has been charged with two counts of assault on police, criminal damage, disorderly behaviour, driving with excess alcohol in breath and possession of a Class C controlled drug.

He is due to face at Derry Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, June 26, for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges are in relation to reports of a suspected male driver under the influence of drink or drugs at the Main Street area of Ballykelly on Tuesday, June 25.

He was subsequently located by officers from the District Support Team at the Buncrana Road area of Derry and arrested.
