Police seize AK47 variant in Derry
The man was arrested under the Terrorism Act, and is being questioned at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite in Belfast.
Searches were also carried out at two addresses, and a number of items seized.
The arrest is part of an investigation following on from a public safety operation in Derry on Tuesday, 21st May, which resulted in the seizure of an AKM firearm and a quantity of ammunition.
As part of the investigation two men, aged 56 and 59, were charged with offences to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court on Friday 24th May.
