Derry IPSC has organised a Rally for Gaza this Saturday, July 20, 6pm, at Free Derry Corner.
Derry IPSC Chair Catherine Hutton said: “Israel’s babarism in Gaza continues and has intensified. Daily massacres of children and entire families continue.
“A full blown famine across Gaza has been declared.
“British Foreign Minister David Lammy’s smiling photo-op with the genocide organiser Benjamin Netanyahu was grotesque.
“This speaks volumes about where the Starmer government’s loyalties lie while respected medical journal The Lancet estimates almost 200,000 have been killed in Gaza over the last ten months.
“The relentless bombing of schools, ‘safe zones’ and United Nations facilities in Gaza has refocused tens of millions across the world on the refusal of the US, Britain and EU leaders to stop Israel’s genocide.
“The vicious murder and callous treatment of Muhammed Bhar, the young Gaza man with Down’s syndrome, sent shockwaves across the world.
“We refuse to be silent while this happens. We refuse to allow what’s happening in Gaza to be normalised.
“The rally is being called on short notice but we urge people to join us to let Gaza and Palestine know we remain with them and to press Westminster, Stormont and the Dáil into action beyond symbolic gestures.
“If we don’t lead on this no one will.
“We will not be flattered by Starmer’s attempt to deflect from his government’s complicity with genocide.
“All arms sales and military support should stop. The Israeli ambassador must be expelled.
“The British government should restore funding to United Nations humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.
“Starmer should fully support the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court’s charges against Israel and arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his regime.
“Anything less is complicity.
“Saturday will be a day of action for Gaza across Ireland with protests in Derry, Belfast and Dublin.
“Join us 6pm Saturday at Free Derry Corner to demand a stop to the Gaza genocide.”
