PSNI Major Investigation Team detectives have been granted a 36-hour extension by a court in relation to a man who was arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner in Derry this week.
The deceased man, aged in his 80s, and named locally as Noel O’Sullivan, was found dead in a house in the on the Culmore Road on Wednesday evening.
A man in his 50s was arrested after the sudden death.
Forensics remained at the scene on Thursday.
Police say a post mortem examination has been carried out.
However, the results were inconclusive and further tests will be required to determine precisely how the man died.
