Also selected on the relay teams are Niamh Murray (Bray Runners), Daisy Walker Monaghan Phoenix), Amy Jo Kierans (Oriel AC), Adam Courtney (Ballymena and Antrim), and Stephen Mannion (South Galway AC).
Tir Chonaill AC’s Fintan Dewhirst will lead Ireland’s 400m hurdles team at the championships.
Athletics Ireland has named the Glenties man among an exciting team for the showcase which will take place in Peru from August 27th to August 31st.
Dewhirst, a 2022 European U18 silver medallist, will lead Ireland out in the 400m hurdles alongside David Davitt (Clonliffe Harriers) with both athletes also selected on relay teams.
The team boasts two field event athletes ranked inside the top six in Elizabeth Ndudi (3rd in long jump) and Oisin Joyce (6th in javelin), with yet another set of Irish relay teams set to take to championship action in the form of the mixed 4x400m and men’s 4x400m.
European U20 long jump champion, Elizabeth Ndudi (Dundrum South Dublin), will return to the Irish singlet following her superb success in Jerusalem last year which saw her win Ireland’s first field event gold medal in the 53-year history of the European U20 Championships.
Oisin Joyce (Lake District AC) heads to Peru in superb javelin form, having posted a personal best of 73.72m back in June which places him fourth on the Irish all time list.
Ireland will also be well represented across the sprint events with Tallaght’s Sean Aigboboh set to take his place in the 100m, while Sean Doggett (Athenry AC) will look to use his recent European senior championships experience when he takes to the 400m and relay.
Lughaidh Mallon (Lagan Valley AC) and Jonas Stafford* (UCD AC) look set to toe the line in the 1500m and 3000m respectively.
