Sainsbury’s has revealed plans to open a new supermarket in Derry.
It will also open a second store in Omagh.
The plans are part of a deal to acquire a group of leasehold stores from DIY chain Homebase.
Sainsbury’s has announced the deal to take on the leasehold interest in ten Homebase sites across the UK.
It is a deal worth around £130 million with the potential to create around 1,000 new jobs.

The company said in a statement: “J Sainsbury plc has reached an agreement to acquire ten leasehold store from HHGL Ltd, trading as Homebase, for conversion into Sainbury’s supermarkets.
“The transaction is expected to complete in early September.
The new stores are expected to open in the summer of 2025 and the shop floor area of the new stores will range from 10,000 to 40,000 square feet.
