The 2024 Glow Run takes place on November 21 at 7.30 p.m. and college staff are encouraging local people to help light up the city at the 5k event.
Beginning at 7.30 p.m. at the Clock Tower at Ebrington, the 5k GlowRun will see walkers and runners, complete with their glowsticks, light up the event route over the city’s iconic Peace Bridge, finishing at the College’s Foyle Building along the quayside.
The event has been organised by staff members of NWRC’s Strand Road Campus and is open to over 16s.
It will also be a big night for staff members who are currently training on the college’s Couch to 5k programme who will be running their first ever FULL 5k.
Gillian Moss, Head of Client Services at NWRC said: “The college is delighted to bring back the NWRC 5K event which forms part of the college’s health and well being programme.
“We hope to see lots of staff, students, and members of the local community taking part.
“We would encourage people to wrap up warm on the night and wear the glow sticks that will be provided, along with bright or reflective clothing.
“The route will be well marshalled and lit, but we would encourage walkers to complete the 5k with a friend.
“Afterwards all the participants will be welcome to have some refreshments at the Foyle Building.”
The event costs just £10 to take part and every participant will have a chipped time, and receive a finisher medal.. Refreshments will be served afterwards in NWRC’s Foyle Building.
Online entries will close on Tuesday at 12 p.m. Places are limited to availability.
All money raised will be donated to the college’s partner charities.
