Very little holds Eamonn Doherty back in life.
Even with his cerebral palsy disability, the proud Derry lad confronts every challenge in his life head on and with a big smile on his face.
And the budding actor – who once had a cameo role in the hit Channel 4 comedy series Derry Girls – is always thinking of others before himself.
In a remarkable fete, young Eamonn has helped raised over £1,700 this year for Foyle Hospice, a charity which is close to his big heart.
This week he handed over his latest cheque to the charity of £1,243 from his coffee morning.
Said Eamonn: “This is a great achievement as it’s the most I have ever made throughout the past 5 or 6 years doing coffee mornings for Foyle hospice.
“Having a disability like cerebral palsy has its limitations however it has never stopped me achieving massively whether that’s in my career, being an extra in Derry Girls or having coffee mornings and this charity will benefit from this big time.
“Foyle hospice has always been a charity close to my heart as they were very good to a family member who sadly passed away so I always like to give something back.
“This is not the first time I raised money for Foyle Hospice this year.
“At Easter I made a Easter basket where I sold 100 tickets at £5 each so £500 was raised then so adding that in that’s £1700 raised this year.
“Personally I feel this is a huge achievement for me.
“In 2001, I raised £1,000 for Foyle hospice
“If someone have had said to me then in three years you’re going to raise £1700 in a few years time I would have rolled my eyes and laughed but actually raising that amount just feels amazing.
“Lastly I want to thank everyone who came and showed their support, donated and some people brought buns which were really enjoyed and ate by everyone including myself and who knows what the future holds.”
Well done Eamonn!
