An overnight weather warning for snow and ice is still in force on Wednesday morning.
It lasts until noon, with road users warned of dangerous conditions.
The Met Office has said that snow and icy patches could lead to some disruption to travel.
The alert covers Derry and the five other counties.
Tomorrow and Friday are predicted to be mainly dry and cold, with a few north coast showers at first.
Frost and patchy fog are still expected across the rest of the week, with some snow followed by clouds and patchy rain later Friday or Saturday.
The weekend should then see temperatures begin to rise, with highs up up to 12 degrees expected by the start of next week.
There is so far two schools confirmed as closed this morning due to the weather conditions:
* St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s College, Claudy
* Cumber Claudy Primary School
The Met Office has warned drivers of dangerous conditions. Walkers have been warned to take care on footpaths while cyclists are advised to stick to main, treated roads. There is a chance of some freezing fog in the southern parts of the province.
A police spokesperson said: “Road users are advised to exercise caution due to icy roads throughout Northern Ireland.
“Stopping distances increase greatly when weather conditions are poor, so slow down and leave a bigger gap between your vehicle and the vehicle in front.”
