The Western Trust’s GP Social Work Assistants in collaboration with Derry City and Strabane District Council Age Friendly, and Derry GP Federation hosted there first ever “Chat-Tea Bingo Loco” event @ The Waterfoot Hotel on Thursday 27 March 2025.
Shona McEleney, GP Social Work Assistant, Glendermott Medical Practice, Waterside Health Centre, Derry said: “We had over 150 people attend our first Chat-Tea Bingo Loco event which was an incredible turnout and a huge success for everyone involved.
“This event primarily focused on strengthening connections within the community with the aim of improving overall health and well-being as well as tackling social isolation, loneliness, and promoting positive mental health.”
“Firstly, the Trust paid a massive thank you to the wonderful entertainment on the night by The D’Ukes of Gransha and local entertainer Mickey Doherty who was our compere on the night and entertained us all.
“It was a fantastic night from start to finish.
“We would like to say a “BIG thank you” to Arisha and Adam and all the wonderful staff at The Waterfoot Hotel. We were blown away by the support you showed to us on the night of our event and the service was was first class!
“The team would like to take this opportunity to thank the local business’ who very kindly sponsored the fantastic raffle prizes and bingo winnings on the night.
“They have been very generous, and we would especially like to say a massive thank you to The Strand Road Bingo for the donations of all the bingo books, and raffle prizes and CLG Lorras GAA for providing the bingo machine.
